Why is the Future of Indian Athletics Knee Deep in Shit?

this is a fb post that became an article in itself highlighting the ignorance rampant in Indian sports.
This is what is killing the future of Indian Athletes.

  • just yesterday i met the 'boxing coach' of Ruia college, and she says 'strength training' is NOT REQUIRED for boxers. (Ok, so maybe mike tyson and sergio mora and lennox lewis just go and weight train to play tele tubbies.) Then she says that supplementation is not required for boxers - they can just have regular food (that too not protein rich enough). And unfortunately, i spotted talent in one of her students - who is a state level boxer. But i fear for the future of that boy when he is being moulded by such hands. All his talent is going to go to waste within a period of 3-5 years. This is the sorry state of our country and its talent pool of athletes.

    • Pushkaraj Shirke Credosian i named the college cause i want someone who knows the management of the college to take action towards saving that athlete's future. Appoint dumb college coaches to save money, no problems. But when you have genuine athletic talent, please give it PROFESSIONAL assistance. this is a plea for help. for that boy. and for so many athletes in this country whose career gets wrapped up in a few short years at the national levels itself - despite having the talent to make it big worldwide.

"deepak taley andheraa". reminds me of all the idiotic Indians who try to sneak foods into airports and ruin the name of the country. they dont represent India, but coz their stupidity gets noticed, they become the face of India.

That's shameful in itself. And Tht says a lot for itself. No point is just randomly dragging in PT usha and milkha Singh in every sport discussion - that's all we have been doing for the past 20 years.

    • Pushkaraj Shirke Credosian Showing the river to a arrogant frog in a well is a waste of time. Talk to me when you are wiser. But by that time more morons like you will be brainwashed by stupid coaches who don't know shit and are as arrogant and stupid as you are right now. This is the exact mentality that coach had. Arrogance breeds stupidity, stupidity breeds its own eventual failure.

    • Pushkaraj Shirke Credosian And btw, you, just like most Indian athletes, will burn out by 23-25 purely because of the wrong guidance you have been given and the arrogantly stupid know it all attitude you have developed. You want to know about pro basketball, ask Chirag Boghani and @suneeth Sebastian. They'll tell you what it takes to turn pro in basketball.

    • Apurva Moré which is why it is hard to win medals in olympics in spite of being the 2nd largest country in the world. The ones training the fresh talent are so far behind in knowledge, science and technology. Majority of trainers in India have no clue or knowledge about research in fitness and wellbeing...

    • Pushkaraj Shirke Credosian And just btw, supplements are advised only to athletes above 18. And that is because of the FDA ignorance regarding usage of sugar substitutes. The boxers I met were 20+

    • Pushkaraj Shirke Credosian Ramakrishnan Nadar And That's how they screw up the athletic potential of the country. Babus and politicians and arrogant idiots who become coaches ruin te future of all potential before it can peak. The benefits of science and technology and knowledge are reaped only by sports that enjoy financial benefits - and in India, that's cricket unfortunately.

    • Pushkaraj Shirke Credosian That is the second largest problem faced by our athletes, lack of funding for athlete training facilities. And over funding for malls and fast food places. I'm sure Anil Mishra can identify with this problem. He runs the athletic programme for Indian gymnasts.

    • Rohon Nag I loved the ignorance shown by Prashant Satyam..... it just shows, why its important for pushky and neulife to educate people about nutrition and supplements.

people think its ONLY for bodybuilders, or for super duper mad fitness freaks...

sure an athlete can perform after eating bread and eggs and paneer and crap, but does he or she perform well ?

    • Pushkaraj Shirke Credosian its not just about supplements - the indian ignorance drama includes lack of scientific training protocols, basic nutrition protocols, rest and recovery and a HUGE BANK OF ARROGANCE AND IGNORANCE - coming for people who have become 'coaches' because they were too dumb to be anything else in life. We need coaches, trainers and mentors who manage the sport ad athletes and guide them with true knowledge, dedication and passion - not just becuse they are doing a job that nobody else wanted to do and was the best they could get. i tear my hair out in frustration everytime i meet an idiot who's a coach - and i swear im going to turn bald soon at this rate.
